That's a four step process:
1. Get the disk out of the old computer
2. Put the disk in an external enclosure (USD 25)
3. Connect it to another PC and get ownership
4. Copy the files
Assuming the disk is OK technically.
I have a 5 year old Hp zv5000 laptop. It loads windows but will not open any programs. the repair shop says they can do a data recovery and reinstall windows for 200 bucks. they seem to think reinstalling windows is the only option. I do want my files, but am unsure about the hefty price tag being invested in such an old machine. I would reinstall windows myself, but the cd drive has not worked in a year or so, (and on a side note the battery gave out about three years back) and I would like my files recovered. what can I do? should i buy a new one, in that case can i get the files off my old computer?
thanks for the advise,
