When my HP 7960 printer is plugged in to my computer via USB, my computer will not start up. It only goes as far as the beginning HP blue screen and freezes.

Make sure that you don't have a flash memory card in one of the slots on the printer. If a card is in one of the slots, the PC will search the card for boot information like it does when a floppy is inserted in the floppy drive. If it can't find boot information it will stop the boot process. Also go into the "Setup" by pressing F2 at startup, and make sure that the PC is set not to boot from anything other than hard drive, floppy or optical drives. Some PCs are set to check the network or usb drives for boot information.
