Question

HP Envy desktop bluetooth doesn't work in Windows 8.1

May 1, 2014 3:46AM PDT

Does anybody have access to a mediatek/ralink bluetooth driver for the HP envy H8-1520t desktop. When I attempted to "upgrade" this Windows 8.0 machine to 8.1, it completely trashed the computer. Second attempt, Win 8.1 installs, but bluetooth no longer works. I have looked at the HP forums without success. Also, HP has refused to respond to this issue directly.

Thanks!

Sorry no.

My last HP encounter was a disaster in that the laptop was sent in and they made the issues worse, never to correct it in 6 months. I wrote it off. This means my advice is damming in that I suggest you ask for a refund if installing some USB Bluetooth (I use those 2 buck models) is unacceptable.

I decided to take a chance on the Windows 8.1 update after finding updated drivers at the Mediatek website (dated 4/15/14).

Upon downloading the windows update and reinstalling, I find that Bluetooth now works with this HP product.
