There's more then you mention. Such as how many hours the battery lasts, the keyboard, the screen size (13" versus 14"), if you want a touch screen or not, the weight, the available slots (for example: if your monitor has only VGA and DMI, and your laptop only HDMI, you can't use that monitor), the availability of a dock, service options (like: is it bring in or at home).
Moreover, for programmation and watching series it seems that 8GB is enough.
Both of them has the same specs :
i7-8550U
RAM : 16 GB
SSD : 512 GB
HP : https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-elitebook-840-g5-notebook-pc
DELL : https://www.dell.com/en-uk/work/shop/laptops/inspiron-13-7000/spd/inspiron-13-7370-laptop/bn37003
I'm just asking between those two laptops because I can get the DELL one for 930€ and the HP one for 1250€ but with a warranty of 3 years (battery includes). Most of the time I'll use my laptop for programmation and watching series.
