HP DVD-writer 300c

i can view DVD's on the HP DVD-writer 300c but
cannot write a new DVD.

Error message while recording is
"please insert writeable media in drive"

Operating system is Windows XP Home Edition

Also how do i adjust the sound speed while viewing
a DVD ?

The short answer is that XP doesn't support DVD recording. You would use some DVD creation tool.

The adjustment of sound speed is not a feature of many softwares. Maybe the old complaint about audio "chipmunk" playback is what you are asking about? The too fast playback was caused by an incorrect audio driver from the machine's maker. You get to find it and install the new driver to fix it.

That drive probably can only write to R+ DVDs and not R-. I had the same issue and it works fine with R+ DVDs.
