the geforce go 7600 graphics are better than integrated graphics. but since you don't plan on playing any games, you won't see any real benefit from it. you could find a core2duo based laptop for the same price but it will probably have a 1.6ghz cpu and won't be any faster.
similar gateway laptop for $769
unfortunately, you'll have to toss one of your ram sticks to expand. so $80 for a 1gb stick will only result in 1.5gb of ram.
I'm in the market for my first laptop. I'm restricted by price. I can't afford everything I want. I'm not 'computer literate' so I'm coming here to ask the 'pros'.
I'm looking to use the laptop for internet surfing and word processing- office stuff - no gaming. I'm may use it to do some fun stuff with pictures and videos.
I came across the hp dv9207us. It seems to be a good price for all the features it has (after rebates it's $799). It has 1gb Ram and Intel duo core. - win vista premium. Here's a link to the specs:
I would love more ram and the 2 dual core, but I think it's out of my price range.
Do you think these specs are good for what I'm looking to do with the machine or should I keep looking? $799 is the upper end of my budget.
I also heard that if you plug in one of those removable memory things (flash drives?) that that would increase ram while it's in - something that vista can do. Is that true?
I appreciate your time and all of your responses!
