My daughter needs a lap top for college. It?s between these two. Things I?ve read,
Acer has a ati x1400 gpu,hp has a NVidia7200go, they both come with xp home rather than pro. I need pro but read were getting all the drivers back was not easy. Any one had any experience on this, and are both machines the same

The "Which laptop for college?" question has been asked a few hundred times so I bet you'll find a model you like listed.

That's a good model too for the bucks.

I've seen the Toshiba core duo with 1G RAM and trimmings widely available for the 1000 to 1200 range. It's big selling point to me was the 3 year warranty which is included at that price.

The college laptop question is getting overdone. I don't want to count how many times it's been asked.

If you dont have any information to add, then dont reply, Bob.

I favor Acer computers over HP (personal opinion, HP just doesnt have the same quality). But the HP is loaded for a very good price. I would base my decision on customer support. Find out whos got the best as they are both similar in makeup.
