HP dv5000t Vs. Dell e1505

by IndiHeat / August 4, 2006 11:39 AM PDT

Hey. Im trying to decide between the HP dv5000t and Dell E1505. Basically I want an all rounded computer for college and did some research to narrow it down to the 15.4 inch displays in both HP and Dell. The price differential isn?t too much between the two, and I don?t mind buying either. I just wanted to get some opinions about the performance, reliability, and overall impression the machine gives. I configured both to the following specifications:
2GHz Dual Core
2 GB Ram
100 GB @ 7200 Rpm / 120 Gb @ 5400 Rpm
256 MB GeForce Go 7300 / 128 MB GeForce Go 7400

While the Hp Comes to $1300 - the Dell Comes to $1550.

I vote for the dell.

hi. I am also a college student. i just bought the DV5000t. i am very satisfied with it, it is fast and functional. i have had it for about a week now and the disk has begun to thrash. i havnt installed any new programs and it is defragged. also the fans are annoyingly loud and seem to come on for no reason (this also happened with my old HP laptop). I bought it beacuse it was cheaper and you get what you pay for. the screen is awesome, the speakers are better than those on the dell, but the dell is more reliable, quieter, and its media keys are more functional (hp only has keys for volume up/down, dvd, and thier instant-on software. there is no buttons for play/stop, rewind ect. my sister has the e1505, and it is a more well rounded choice. as for performance, the dell also performs slightly better with the same configuration, dont know why.
