HP dv2000 wifi card problems

Nov 15, 2009 2:45AM PST

My HP Pavilion dv2000 (series dv2413cl) was upgraded several weeks ago from Vista to Windows 7 without any problems.

While on a trip this past week where I only had dial-up access, I noticed that the wifi light had turned from blue to red. Since returning home I have tried everything I can think (including reloading the driver) to get the wifi card turned on to no avail.

Before I replace the wifi card, is there some way I can check to see if the card is the problem and not the switch or the motherboard or software related.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, mine is not one of the models that qualifies for the "enhanced" warranty.

I was looking for a way to find where the problem may be (software, motherboard, etc.) before replacing the wifi card. It looks as if your problem was solved by replacing the card.

I've seen this on other models in this line.

And it's painful to watch people reload the OS, change cards, drivers and sometimes it works but fails later. My buddy didn't want to go through that pain so we decided to fix it.

Hope this helps you decide to fix it the way that we know how.
