HP digital Cameras- any good?

Sep 19, 2005 7:09AM PDT

I just bought an HP M417 5.2 megapixel camera and am thinking of returning it. Are HP's any good?

I researched for months trying to figure out what camera to buy and came away having no clue. All the reviews online aren't helpful. I wanted to spend under $200. My biggest concern is shutter lag. This camera seems to have it, but do all cheap digicams?

Not much HP info out there.

HP does not have a large part of the camera market.
And they are seldom reviewed by any of the professional reviewers. That makes it difficult to learn much about their cameras.

And the reviewers seldom review cameras that cost under $200. Since camera companies seldom publish lag time specifications, there is little know about lag time and low cost cameras.

You might look at the Nikon 4600 camera.
It sells for under $200.
It has been reviewed and the reviewer puts the shutter lag at 0.3 second, which is very good.

Wow, thank you, I might get that one. I welcome any more comments. When my husband gets home from work I am going to return the HP.
