HP Computer to Samsung LCD TV NO SOUND

Jun 26, 2011 11:54AM PDT

Specs:
Computer: HP Pavilion model M9517C
NVIDIA GeForce 9300 GE Video Card. Has built in HDMI out
RealTek HighDef Audio Sound Card.
Windows Vista Home 64 bit.

TV:
Samsung LCD TV model:LN-T4671F

Receiver:
Samsung HW-C700B

Issue:
I'm getting great picture quality. I'm NOT getting any sound to come out of either the TV or the Receiver. I've tried changing inputs on the receiver. I've tried the computer to TV direct (bypassing the receiver). I've tried all control panel settings I can think of, including making sure the HDMI is set as the default, going through the NVIDIA settings, etc. Please Help!

I believe the 9300 is one of the only GPUs by NVidia to not pass audio thru the HDMI port, sadly.

Checked with NVIDIA. They've confirmed that the card does provide audio VIA the HDMI. They also tried to check a couple of other things but it didn't help. I called right before they closed so I'll have to try back tomorrow.

I most def want to leave the 1/8 to red white as a last, last, last resort. Thanks for you help.

Anyone else? Happy

P.S.

They thought of the SPDIF as well. I opened up the computer and saw that was connected directly from the NVIDIA card to the to the mother board while I was chating with them.

1) I would try completely uninstalling that graphics card, and its driver, and reinstalling with the latest available drivers from nVidia's site.

2) Do you have any other HDMI devices to test on? A friends TV? Also, I would try a different HDMI Cable, maybe its a dud?

Good luck!<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre">

Uninstalling might be something I need to try. Sound is coming out of the receiver and TV for the other units (Blu ray player and Cable Box). I'll have to try the other TV. Thanks for the ideas. I'll let you know how it works out.
