It's sad they didn't handle it well but the limited time offer is now over. This sort of issue is not limited to HP so that's not the issue.
I disagree this is HP's style.
If you want to move to 7 the next step is to get it from Microsoft.
I have idea where to turn and so ask for guidance on this.
Last year, I bought a Compaq laptop for my sweetie who was being shipped overseas, and specifically bought one with Vista because there would be a free Win7 upgrade. When she came home 7/8 months later, I called HP about them honoring the request. I was simply blown away with the HP rep's rudeness. I was shocked to find out that there was a 6month limit on the upgrade (it is nowhere on the receipt of my online order). He coldly and rudely refused to let me speak to a supervisor, and would not give me address where I could write an appeal. Pissed off by my persistence (after about 5 mins [timed] on hold), he sent me to a site where he said I could go (www.softwareinformer.com) and download Win7 for free. At this time, 'sweetie' is back home and I am stuck with 'sucky' Vista on a Compaq laptop. Does anyone have any ideas? I understand that this is HP's style - push stuff on you and screw you on the tech support side. True? Please someone, help.
