HP BD-2000 Blu-ray Disc Player Firmware Update?

by PS091566 / April 16, 2010 11:17 PM PDT

Some of the Bluray movies I have purchased recently play the menus but not the actual movie. Is there, or will there be a firmware update to accomondate the newer encoding?
The disk plays in other Bluray players.

Head to hp.com and try their chat feature. HP reps haven't shown up here so try hp.com next.

The menus and other features do not work correctly on many Blu-ray disks. For example, when the player times out during pause you have to start over and use scene selection. This player is slow to start and because of the poorly designed user interface, you have to wait 5 seconds to get a visual confirmation that it is responding to the remote.

All of these are correctable with firmware. However, the player does not recognize the firmware upgrade I downloaded from HP as a valid firmware upgrade. If the firmware installed in my player is the same or more recent, it should say so.

HP customer support is a joke. Additionally, the BD-2000 is a discontinued product and there will apparently be no further firmware upgrades. You might expect backward compatibility with previous models from a company with a broad customer base.

HP is a company on the rocks and making all the right decisions to ensure they end up there. It is almost enough to make me come out of retirement and fix their problems for them, if there were such job opportunities at HP, which there are not.

Meanwhile, I am stuck with a blu-ray player which does not implement the complete blu-ray standard. What a waste!

I found this advice on http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-HP-Consumer-Products-and/Updating-HP-BD-2000-Firmware-using-flash-drive/td-p/326233

I have the same player and problem! I called HP and the tech e-mailed the file I needed, and when I tried it (NOthing)! What
he neglected to tell me is that the file is an ISO file, and you need
special iso burning software. What you need to do is open your browser
window, type in the search (FREE ISO BURNING SOFTWARE) I used- ACTIVE
ISO BURNING SOFTWARE- it is free. Download the software to your
computer, istall it, then burn the file with it to a cd. Load the cd in
your player and click upgrade . This will solve your problem! PS:
HP's tech support has little to be desired, they still can't figure out
why I can't use the BD-Live feature while using a USB flash drive as my
storage device. I was forced to give up"

I haven't tried this solution myself yet, so can't confirm if it works or not.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
