Question

HP 735 Photosmart Camera and Windows 7

Jun 23, 2012 7:53AM PDT

My HP camera has served me well for a number of years. I do not want to throw it away and buy another but I find there is no support from HP for Windows 7. My current laptop runs on Windows 7. HP say such products are usually over 7 years old. The inference is I have to buy a new camera every 7 years presumably which I find repugnant. Is there no way I can work around this problem to download my photos to a windows 7 computer? Thanks in anticipation.

Answer
Sorry I may have missed the question.

Here I take pictures then pull the memory card and put it in the card reader to get the pictures out.

No work around needed and I've done this for over a decade.

Can you share what stopped you from getting your pictures out?

HP735 Camera
Jun 23, 2012 10:34PM PDT

Hi Bob, Sorry I didn't explain the problem very well. The Camera came with some software which I installed on my previous laptop and then again on my new Windows 7 laptop. There are 2 programs called HP Director and HP Photo and Imaging which I used on my old laptop to transfer photos from the camera to the computer but neither program seems to work with the new laptop because it runs on Windows 7 apparently.
However I note your suggestion which sounds good. Since I posted the query I tried to transfer the photos by treating the camera as a flash drive and it worked. Just went to "computer" and clicked on the removable drive shown etc. I think that solves it but many thanks for your reply. I will try pulling the card and copying from a Reader.
Regards,
Neil

Ahh, those apps that come with cameras.

I never install them. I found out long ago they were unreliable over time.

In fact one was my introduction to SPYWARE. I had installed the camera app and the next thing I noticed was a lot of outbound traffic. Killing that app killed the outbound traffic. WOAH... This was 1999 or prior and a wake up call.

So, right or wrong I figured out the non-camera supplied method and never looked back.
