Or even a painter? Remember SHELLAC?
"the shellac then holds the turns in place, provides extra insulation and prevents movement and vibration, reducing buzz and hum."

Your average technician would find the noise and drop some shellac on the coil or part that is vibrating.

My printer is driving me nuts. 2 days ago it started making this high pitched sound - sort of like air being squeezed through a tiny hole. The only way to get the sound to stop is to unplug the printer; turning it off doesn't do anything (sound continues). I've had this printer for about 3 years and it's worked great. Not noisy at all. Does anyone know what is causing this sound. It's irritating the heck out of me. I really don't want a new printer since this one works fine. But I can't stand the sound, and don't want to keep unplugging it.
