How to use DBAN

Jul 21, 2007 5:16AM PDT

hello,

I am planning to use DBAN to wipe my harddisk clean, but I never used it before and I will be grateful if someone can lead me through the important points, I downloaded it and there was something to do with creating a floppy, is that going to be used as a startup disk. please lead me through until I boot from the windows XP CD, I can carry on from there.
Regards, and thanks inadvance.

Yes , The floppy you create will be used

as the startup disk. You will need to enter the setup Configuration(BIOS) and set the floppy drive as first boot. I might ask if you really need to use DBAN just to re-install the OS because you can use the XP/CD to delete the partition(s) and start out fresh. Once the system boots to DBAN just follow the instructions as they are rather easy. If you do use DBAN there is no need to go back to the BIOS and change the boot order once it is finished as the system will find the Optical drive with the XP/OS CD.

he problem is that I have two windows boot options, and I need Only one, during widows setup I dont get the option to repartition and format drives, I dont know why. so I only need to set the floppy as first boot, Then when the computer restarts the floppy will run and I just need to follow the steps on screen. after the prog. finishes the delete process, I will run the Win Xp CD and go on normally with the installatio, last time I tried to boot form the CD i didn't work any advice if this happens again. sorry for the lengthy post and thanks for your help.
