how to use 2 7410 multifunction printers with one laptop

Jun 9, 2006 6:00AM PDT

I have 2 officejet 7410 multifunction printers, one at home and one at the office. I am using a Dell 600m laptop with Windows XP pro.

HP tells me I cannot use them both wirelessly since there is a conflict in the IP addresses. HP also said I could not use one wireless and the other via USB; however, I have done just that. I configured one printer wirelessly first (home) and then simply plugged the USB into the laptop at the office and the other printer was recognized and installed as "copy 1". Although prompted to go through the entire HP installation process again, I cancelled out of it. I have full functionality both wirelessly and via USB, i.e., print, scan, fax.

My question to the forum is whether anyone else has ever done this and does it create any problems? I have experienced a loss of recognition of the wireless router (for internet) at both locations unless I unplug the power of the router and repower it. Then all works fine.

Also, does anyone know how to use both devices wirelessly without having to manually reconfigure the IP address at each location.

Thanks
