Question

How to update apps?

Aug 19, 2011 4:03AM PDT

CNet tells me when my apps have an update. But I never know whether I should uninstall the old one before I install the download, or should I just install the download over top of the old app?

An Oldtimer trying to keep up.

I don't update apps unless it's a security update or I found something busted.

I've seen too many times when apps get "updated" something breaks. Usually you can "roll back" the update if there are problems. Depending on whatever version of Windows you are using, it's located in a different place. As Bob says, if it ain't broke . . .

Unless you have a specific application that tells you it needs to be updated, leave them alone.

Thanks Bob and Coryphaeus. You've given me a different perspective on this. I haven't had any problems to date, but no use looking to make one.
Thanks, again
