How to turn off FB prompt

Feb 8, 2011 10:34PM PST

Every time I post I get a prompt to post on FB. How do I turn that off? Very annoying. Thanks.

Is this what you're asking about?

No

I don't know the other person. By default, whenever I post in CNET, another window pops up asking me to share on FB. #1 Why would I do that? Does every fart and sneeze have to go to FB? #2 There's no where to turn it off. That's the real annoying aspect of it.

Where are preferences

I click on profile and the only options are to change my email address and password. No preference panel. If I could find the prefs I would change them. Thanks again for your help.

Doesn't seem to be possible.

If you joined CNET through your Facebook account/credentials there does not seem to be a way to unlink the two except by asking for your CNET account to be deleted, and creating a new CNET account without using your FB credentials.

If you had read the first link given above you would have seen the Forum Admin's reply about this to the other poster.

However, since that was over a year ago, I will alert the Forum Admin to your post to see if there has been any change since then.

Not FB
Feb 9, 2011 9:23PM PST

That's kind of odd since I used an address NOT associated with my FB account so not even sure how it would link unless through my real name. Very inefficient way to go about removing it. Thanks for the quick reply.

Try this.

When you post something in the forum or any where on CNET, when you see the FB prompt, just click "Skip", what this will do is set a cookies to not prompt for posting on FB again. I believe that particular cookies expires in 30 days--so after 30 days that cookie will and you will be prompted again.

The only time you would see this prompt over and over again is if you are deleting all your browser cookies after each browsing session.

Please let me know if that solves the problem.

Thanks!

FB prompts

Why doesn't CNET simply disable the function? It's so odd that anyone would want queries to a help forum to go to FB.
