Question

How to Trasnfer Apple Mail to Outlook 2011 for Mac

Dec 17, 2014 11:32AM PST

Didn't realize it would become such a huge trouble when i initially thought of transferring from Apple Mail to Outlook 2011 for Mac.

I was really shocked to see that Microsoft had not made available any import function for the same.

Now i really need to get my mails transferred to my new email client.
Any help would be really appreciated.

To Import an MBOX File Into Outlook 2011
Jan 6, 2015 1:51AM PST

Hi,

TO IMPORT AN MBOX FILE INTO OUTLOOK 2011 FOR MAC:

Follow this steps;

1. Copy the .mbox file to your Mac. A USB flash drive or an external hard drive is probably the easiest way to do that.
2. On your Mac, in Outlook 2011, select "Outlook 2011 -> File -> Import" menu command.
3. Select "Contacts or messages from a Text file" option.
4. Click on 'Continue' (Right arrow button).
5. Select "Import messages from an MBOX-format text file".
6. Click on 'Continue' (Right arrow button)
7. Select the MBOX file(s) you'd like to import. (If you are unable to select MBOX files because they are greyed out, please see the next section).
8. Click on "Import" button.
9. Click on "Finish" button.
10. You will find the imported mailboxes under "ON MY COMPUTER". (Note: If "ON MY COMPUTER" section is in collapsed mode, click on the triangle next to it to expand it).

Hope this helps..!!!

In my opinion, you can try manual method which is described by ' vembutech' in appropriate way.

But, You should follow all steps very carefully to avoid any bad outcome. If you are not interested to go with manual method due to lack of technical knowledge then third party utility is alternative way.

I will stress that BEFORE you go ahead and start playing with the Apple Mail internals, that you make sure you have a good backup of everything.

Time Machine will do just fine.
