Question

How to Transfer Voice Mails From Cell Phone to Cassette ?

Jan 6, 2014 8:45PM PST

We want to make a birthday gift for my Mom of voice mailed messages transferred on to a cassette tape. I know the cassette tape is an ancient form of technology, but unlike CD's, it can be backed up when necessary and re-played whenever Mom wants. She can back up to wherever she wants on a tape - not true with a CD.

How do we transfer the voice mails from a cell phone onto a cassette tape?

Thanks! IcalFree (not technICAL!)

Higher Quality Sound Solution

Thanks! That is a very simple solution that even a non-techie like me should be able to do. However, Mom is very hard of hearing and I'm wondering if the recording quality would be good enough using this method? Is there some way to copy the phone calls onto an MP3 or CD (or whatever) and then copy directly from one of these storage modes onto a cassette?

If the phone has an earpiece socket,

you should be able to get a cable with a connector for the phone on one end and ditto for the tape recorder end. Usually a 3.5mm plug is all it takes.

Alternatively, take the audio into a computer, Audacity is free software that manipulates audio, fix it up and then transfer out to tape again.
Or, and this may be even better, get all the Voice Messages sorted out as single files, convert them to AIFF and then burn to an Audio CD.
That way the Voice Mails will play, and be selectable, using a regular CD player.

Mom would be able to skip to whatever track she want to hear.
