About your question- how to transfer dvd to hard drive
Jul 1, 2011 7:17AM PDT

Windows 7, Vista, XP? Mac OSX?
DVDs you have created? DVD's you own? DVDs you have rented or borrowed?
Do you want to store them? Do you want to play them from the hard drive?
Sometimes a little more info is needed to answer a question.

ImgBurn does this.

I forgot to note the video player to use on the resulting file.

That would be VLC PLAYER.

Both titles are free at download.com

Answer
ImgBurn (free) can do this.

Look again at IMGBURN as it can save an image of the DVD complete in an .ISO file on your hard drive.

Free and usually an one click operation.
