That while I really really REALLY like Grif's list at http://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/how-to-remove-pup-option-603542/#post-f742c795-5881-433b-a29b-6d758efe5cd3
this doesn't mean it's gone for good.
That is, you have some PC users that just can't resist using Torrents and going to bad sites. So the infection reoccurs.
YOU remain the best protection.
That said, I use a rather simple protection system today. Ready?
1. Windows Defender. Just learned it has a new trick!

2. For Firefox I use 2 add ons for protection.
a. Web Of Trust (AKA WOT)
b. Ublock Origin. Many like Adblock+
Good hunting.
It usually begins this way;one day you switch your computer on only to find that your default home page has been changed to something else. You then go and search the internet. The info you found tells you it could be a virus or a spyware. Then you search for ways on the internet in order to restore your default home page. After that, what they usually tell you is to go to Control Panel and search for the name of the website that hijacked you home page and Uninstall it. The problem that I have is that the name of what I'm supposed to uninstall does not appear at all on the list! Only the names of other programs are present on the list. Maybe my PC is different from others.
It has happened many times. I always restore my default home page but I do not really feel assured that the Spyware/Virus is gone for good. Does anyone know of any way I can search for all these spyware/virus and get rid of them for good?
