that's pretty much all u can do with ur current hardware. the question is, how secure is secure? even thousands of dollars' solution has security holes.
if u r looking for test for the security from the internet. go to www.grc.com and try their shieldsup test.
in ur router configuration, make sure u enable the security log and u can monitor from there. also, if ur router is giving out IP addresses, u should be able to check the DHCP tables and see if there is any MAC addresses that u dont recongize.

I have a wireless network (802.11g) network in my house. One desktop and One notebook. Both running xp-ro.
Broadband: Comcast
Router: D-Link G router
I have tried to follow all the things that was suggested to secure my connection. I did the following.
1. disable "Broadcast SSID"
2. Filter by "MAC Address"
3. Encryption
How would I be able to test my connection to see if it is secure? Are there any tests?
How would I be able to monitor to see who is connected to the network? Monitor traffic?
