how to tell

I have an old win98 se license sticker which im hoping to make use of on my laptop. I also have a OEM 98se cd which i got hold of seperatly, will these two be compatible with each other? how can one tell whether the license is retail or OEM and thus whether or not its compatible with the cd?

Basically you try it and see. Be careful what you ask since we can get singed by the forum policies.

And the hard line is simple. The OEM License agreement forbids you from doing this. But just try it and don't ask for help or reveal that's what you did.

Actually, IMHO your answer goes way over the line, in terms of what the rest of us would be allowed to post here. I've been watching this same nonsense since the ZDnet days and can't believe the inconsistency in what's allowed and what's not. Apparently, it's not what's posted - it's who's posting it.

A "NT" answer doesn't really address the issue which I raised. There was nothing disrespectful or incorrect about my observation. Can you honestly say the same about your response?

If reporting your post would make a difference, it would have been deleted in the first place. I think that was my point.
