How to stream webcam to HD or CD

Acer 5420 Vista home premium. My laptop has the webcam built into it, It is called crystal eye. When i press the webcam button it loads up and their is my ugly mug looking back at me. I have very little controls to work with, take a snapshot, or delete it, and a few color adjustments. I would like to stream my webcam to my hard drive or, better yet directly to a cd. Anyone know how to do this?. I would like to record a cd to send to my children . Thank you in advance for your knowledge.

I just did a quick Google search for you and found some free recording software ( http://www.nchsoftware.com/capture/index.html ]
Not sure if its any good but you could give it a try first (Make sure you scan it before installing etc) It sounds alright but il let you be the judge of that, if it isnt you could always just google this - "webcam recording software" or something.
