How to stop Win XP running CHKDSK at boot?

Mar 16, 2004 4:45AM PST

After reinstalling XP Pro on my PC, Win XP has now desided it needs to check a partition for consistancy.
You can opt out of this by pressing any key, but try as i may I can't find a way out of this.

Windows help has sugested editing the registry but I cannot find the line that it says needs deleting.

Is this something or nothing to worry about?
Is there something wrong with my HDD?

Any help will be welcome, Andy

When you can, reboot and let it finish... Usually cures it's need to run each time. If not, post back.

Hi Bob, every time i reboot CHKDSK runs. I do let it finish but when you reboot it just runs again. Its not a big problem but it's enoying.
And as I said this has only started after I reinstalled everything and partitioning my HDD after formating it.

Help! Checkdisck locked at 14%!!!
Apr 9, 2010 9:11AM PDT

My hard drive is dying but was running. IT told me to run chkdsk \r. It locking up at 14% in step 4. Is there a way to configure my PC so that it will reboot without chkdsk running?

Thanks
