Question

How to stop the surveillance

Mar 28, 2016 8:16AM PDT

Our adult children have been spying on us for more than a decade. My son is an IT admin for the Fed Govt. They continue to take over our network, telephones and all computing devices. They record & stream our privacy to multi social media sites and people. How can we stop them? They are greedy and want us to die ASAP

Clarification Request
Thank You for reponding

Grif, Thanks for taking the time to respond to my request for help. Sadly, the police and the FBI told us that they do not work on such matters. The FBI agent told us they would investigate the matter if we were a major corporation like Time Warner but not for peons like us. The Fed Govt employs my son for his networking skills (Jon Ervin LinkedIn) so they are not willing to help us. We have spent thousands of dollars to no avail. They have networked with wealthy, influential people so we are basically helpless. I am beginning to think they are unstoppable. They are angry bc we didn't give them every penny they demanded despite our efforts to help them with college etc. I hope that others will learn from our plight. NEVER trust anyone to be in your home unsupervised and NEVER EVER trust anyone with your computer and network. You would like to believe that your family wouldn't want to hurt you. Lesson learned the hard way that our children hated us for years while accepting money and gifts from us. Be careful who you trust!

What Are You Willing To Do?
Mar 28, 2016 11:12AM PDT

If you already discussed the issues with your family and they refuse to stop, then they're no different than any other "hacker".. Contact the police.

Of course, basic security steps can be taken. Change all the phone numbers, computer network names, email addresses, and all passwords. Once that's done, change the locks on your house and don't give the family a key.. Prevent actual physical access to all your devices except for you. If the family won't agree to stay away from your devices when they're at your home, don't let them in. They're no different than thieves.

I know it's a huge step to take, but as I asked at the beginning; What are you willing to do?

Hope this helps.

Grif

Here are some steps you can take

Do these in order and they shouldnt be able to touch you.
- Change all of the locks on your doors, and put locks on the windows.
- Scan the house for cameras, and audio recording devices. Be thorough!
- Make sure your computer screens are not visible from any angle through any of your windows.
- Get new networking equipment, maybe even a new Internet Provider
- Change the SSID and password on your wifi and change the login on your router.
- Get new computers
- Download antivirus software, antispyware software
- Make new accounts on everything he has hacked into
- Change ALL of your passwords and make them VERY long. If he is an expert, he will be able to crack anything less than 12 characters with ease. Shoot for a long sentence with random punctuation or something.
- Get a guard dog

You are not alone in this situation! I have a relative who was sent to the hospital recently because her son attacked her for not taking care of him and I know from experience she has done everything in her power to help him. I can imagine how you probably feel, and if it were me I'd be mortified. Anyways, I hope I could help.
