Question

How to sort playlist entries in itunes 9.2.1

Jan 7, 2015 4:07AM PST

When I drag and drop files into an iTunes playlist, the sort order appears to be random, or by file "touch" date, or something. It's important that I be able to sort them alphabetically, in order to be able to make direct comparisons between playlists containing material with the same names. I am willing to upgrade to version 12, is a) that will work, and b) if my old Mac OSX will allow the installation.

For years I would click on the Name to sort by name.

I thought clicking on the bar only reversed the display, but apparently I was wrong. It looks like your solution works, and thanks for the search tip.

Sort order on burning a CD
Jan 27, 2015 3:45AM PST

My iTunes lists are sorting correctly on the display, but when I burn a playlist to CD it apparently uses some other information to sort the songs on the CD, such as perhaps create or modification date. Do I have to go into the iTunes library and sort the items there in order to get them to burn in the proper order? Is this problem solved in later versions? I am looking into upgrading my OS so as to be able to install newer software.

All good here.

My AudioCD's created with iTunes play in the proper order. Just like the playlist I made.

As to MP3 CDs that's a whole another ballgame as many players re-sort the order. That's not an iTunes issue at all.
