how to shutdown my system automatically

how to shutdown my system automatically if it runs in UPS battery.i did this with windows xp sp3 machine in control panel-power options but i want to do same with windows vista.is there any tool available?i ma using windows xp sp3,and windows vista sp1.1 gb ram,dual core 1.8 ghz,APC UPS,i have UPS software but that's not working with vista,my pc connected through serial port in my UPS,help?

will this work for me?because i have downloaded another one from apc but that was not working with serial port UPS.

But I have offered this suggestion before and it did work out. As you know as time passes some items tend to lose support.

Sorry to hear that. It's possible you or someone could write new code to make this work. Let me share it could be trivial code since it's on a serial port. The shutdown call is a one liner so I won't share what it is.

Looks like you'll have to write your own code or replace the unit.

Would be third party. Source code to examine is likely to be found in the Linux community.
