Question

How to share a video capture device among multiple programs

Jun 15, 2012 1:28AM PDT

I have a Hauppage USB video capture device attached ot my computer. I have installed a number of software packages that are supposed to be able to use that device to create video files. However, only one program actually works. Other programs apparently recognize the presence of the device (in particular, Cyberlink Power Director 10), but don't seem to "see" any video. Is it possible to share this device among multiple programs? Note that I am not trying to run them at the same time.

Answer
Only if said programs understand that device's output.

You'll have to call each software maker and ask if they will be adding support.

PS. If you remember this from years ago.

You found FIREWIRE to work where USB failed. Hint and nod.
