How to setup VGN-SZ3XP/C webcam on Vista

May 11, 2007 7:48PM PDT

Hi, recently bought the VGN-SZ3XP/C notebook which has a Vista Business free upgrade. This notebook has an integrated webcam that requires no installation on XP.

However, I can't get it to work on Vista. Does anybody know how to do it?

Thanks in advance,
Merlino

Sony's support website does not have your model listed, but this update is available for a similar model to resolve compatibilities issues with the webcam and should work for you as well. Additional patches can be found here and here.

Hope this helps,
John

As I came across a similar problem, I tried your advice and downloaded the camera utility and installed it. However, I've no idea yet how to activate the webcam. I tried skype and found that the cam was not recognized. Pls help.
Thanks,

Yep. Still no go...what to do?! At last, I tried installing the bundled applications with the vista update again...but came across a nutty problem with the battery (a pop-up message saying that the battery is down, etc... while the battery is fully charged). Funny part is that I can't remove the pop-up which anchors itself at the centre of the LCD. Then I removed all applications with installation of the OS once again. Huh...
Thanks again.
