How to set up Mail on Ubuntu?

Hi everyone, I just installed ubuntu on my computer, I want to set up Mail or Thunderbird on it, what should I do? Thanks a lot.

In my case, Ubuntu 9.10, which uses Evolution as default mail.
Didn't even have to setup incoming/outgoing ports, as I had to
do under Win/Vista. Lotsa variables here...or just use a Hotmail acct.

Thunderbird is...

As easy as setting up as Windows, is the same identical way.

To install T-Bird, that is another story.

If you use Mandriva 2010 as OS is as easy as going to the Mandriva Control Center and go to Add and Remove Software. Search for Thunderbird, check the box and apply.

It will install it for you, is that easy.

Running Thunderbird under Ubuntu - easy way

On the top 'panel' (menu bar) select "Applications > Internet > Mozilla Thunderbird Mail/News" and there you go. Any problems with the procedure, reply to this thread and I'll do my best. Oh, for convenience you can right-click the menu item and activate "Add this launcher to panel" ("launcher" means 'short-cut').
