How to see hidden message in picture

Dec 14, 2010 10:56PM PST

I have asked this question before but sadly lost the answer. I have a picture where there is some kind of watermark or similar. I have tried to make it visible in Photoshop by playing around with the hue, but can't make it clear enough to read. Is there a further adjustment I could do - I seem to remember there was something else.....
Grateful for help.
Thanks,

This seems to be the thing I'm looking for

Thanks Proffitt,
The picture of the cat inside a picture of a tree seems to be the kind of thing that I'm looking for, but how do I "remove all but the two least significant bits of each color component" in Photoshop. I'm sorry if that is a silly question, but I'm not very experienced at this.

Thanks Mark for finding my original question.
This has proved a real stumbling block for me, but I haven't given up yet.
Thank you for your good wishes.
