How to run CHKDSK in windows 7?

I was used to run CHKDSK dos command in Windows XP but in Windows 7 it does not work. Can one explain why is it so? How can i run this command in Windows 7?

CHKDSK WIN 7

Open my computer, right click on drive, click properties then click tools, click on Check Now.

I click the Orb (start to some) and type in cmd to get a command window, then at the command prompt can type chkdsk. There are switches to tell it more on what to do.
