Resolved Question

How to rip cd's with titles.

Jul 30, 2011 6:51AM PDT

I have a lot of audio cds made with a old version of EZCD Creator. I copied my LP collection to . HEREav files and also burned cds. When played on my home player or in my car, all the tracks display titles and duration. I had a hard drive failure AND also lost backup files at the same time. No, they were not on the same drive. (Very bad luck.) I hope to recover my music files from the cds WITH track titles but do not know how. EZCD version will not load after XP Home SP2.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for taking the time to respond. I took a quick look at the app.

That's why I supplied the link.

So you could become familiar with DAO and in reading that you see what the AudioCD uses to get that information.

Today for ripping I use iTunes which is fine for me since it gets the ID Tags and more. There are some that can't stand that, Microsoft this or Zelak's toolsets.

-> OK, go get CDEX.

Thanks, 98.7% perfect

Thanks Bob,
Cdex does everything I needed. Only reason it's not 100% is, it prepends "New Artist" to the track names about 70% of the time. (See here). Not ALL the time, mind you. If I were a little smarter I could probably fix that. As it is, everything that I needed is there.
Thanks again for all your help. You have been most generous with your time.

Crashing every 6-8 cds
Jul 31, 2011 7:24AM PDT

More troubling, about every 6-8 cds, the service module fails and I have to reboot. I've tried both types of installations that look compatible with xp with the same results. Runs fine for awhile, then... I'll look into it further after a little break.

No crash here on over a dozen CDs.

I can't tell why it does that on some machines. But here, flawless. Then again my machines are pretty plain and no CD emulators or such.

I thought the prepend text was controllable.

I forget where but try this.

CDEX TRACK NAMING

Might find it quick enough.
