I have Windows Vista home edition with Service Pack 2 installed on my laptop. I have a 32-bit operating system and an Intel Core Duo processor (T6400 @ 2.00GHz)
When I try to install NeatWorks for my scanner I get the error message:
"Required Registry Value Missing
Install has detected that you do not have an entry for the AppData value in your KEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders Registry key.
Microsoft SQL Server, a NEAT Receipts dependency, requires that this key be present. Please contact your system administrator to resolve this issue"
I have run Spybot - Search & Destroy and McAfee Virus scan and found no problems. I had viruses previously, though.
Also, when I go to Windows Updates it says there is one optional update for Windows SQL, but every time I try to install the update it fails and says Windows Update has encountered an unknown error: Code 84C40007
I need to fix this so that I can use my scanner again.
Please let me know if you have any advice.
Thanks!

I got the update to install, but that didn't fix the problem with the missing registry key entry.
Have a look at another Vista PC and see if the contents are suitable to export it there and import it with you.
You can do minor changes with Notepad in the exported file.

I don't know of any other computers with Windows Vista installed that I could get access to, so I don't have access to this file.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks.
After we tackled the above I decided to see if anyone has reported this issue:

When I get only the Cnet user's post, I have a new question.
