All I can offer is this is a power tool without any safeguards or fancy GUI. But the price is right and it can do many things well.

How to restore and manage Vista using Acronis True Image 11.
Acronis True Image 11 has performed very well, in fact I am really impressed. I downloaded and installed the 30 day trial version of Acronis True Image 11.
I am testing the ultimate backup for Vista outside of Vista.
1. I set up two sata hard drives and booted to either one using the bios boot menu.
2. Both hard drives are 250 GB?s , one Western Digital and one Seagate.
3. I installed Windows XP on the Seagate hard drive.
4. I installed Windows Vista Premium on the Western Digital hard drive.
5. I installed the 30 day trial version of Acronis True Image 11 on Windows XP and saved a drive image on an external hard drive.
6. I then partitioned the Vista operating system using Vista?s disk management and shrinked the volume to two new primary partitions and restored the saved drive image onto the new partitions and they booted perfectly. As you can see here the last partition I created I set active before I restored the saved Vista operating system. Notice it is only 47 GB's and was restored by using a 114 GB saved Drive Image...Acronis just ignored the parameter difference and restored it perfectly...Wow

7. I can navigate back and forth by opening disk management and setting the one I want to boot to ?ACTIVE?.
8. I then downloaded VistaBootPro and added the new Vista operating systems to the boot menu and now I have a choice as seen here:

9. I only did this to test Acronis True Image 11 ?.It really really impressed me.
10. I do not advocate violating the EULA and will delete the new Vista partitions therefore abiding by the EULA but I have a perfect copy saved on an external hard drive.
11. I am surprised the Three Vista operating systems cannot see each other and when I unload them from the VistaBootPro boot manager only one boots and the others are not seen. {To do this I manually set Vista-P2 or Vista-P3 as ?ACTIVE? and then I don?t get this menu: http://img171.imageshack.us/my.php?image=vistabootaa5.jpg
It will just boot to P2 or P3 until I manually change it by setting it ?ACTIVE?.
I get back to the BCD boot menu by setting P1 ?ACTIVE?.
Has anyone else tried these procedures???
I had fun.
