The problem you describe might point to a known problem with Windows Explorer when it attempts to list corrupted image and/or video files.
Windows Explorer, (note, I don't mean Internet Explorer), is the File Manager for Windows OSes and it pops up all over the OS. For example, My Computer, My Documents, etc are instances of Windows Explorer, and so is the Desktop.
Also, whenever you are using a program and goto File > Open, or File > Save (or Save As), the small dialog window that opens is a Windows Explorer window.
Windows Explorer can display files in different ways, eg Detail, List, Icon, Slideshow, (in some folders). Windows Explorer will struggle and sometimes fail if it is attempting to display a corrupted file in Icon or Slideshow format because it cannot display the file icon correctly. This does not happen in List or Details options.
So I suspect that Explorer is faulting because it is coming across a corrupted file. The quick solution would be to change the way Explorer lists files to Details or List, but if there is a corrupted image file then you will want to find it and remove it.
I hope that helps.

I run PIP 2002 on my XP machine..I love it but all of a sudden it freezes when trying to save a file or trying to open/import and picture. Can take 2 mins or more to move again as if it's trying desperately to open folders and files in my libraries.
I already run the PI9299 patch.
I did upgrade last week to 4GB Ram (instead of 3) but even when I go back to 3 GB and un-re-install PI from the disc it freezes for 2 - 3 mins trying to open picture files, so every step can tke 3 - 4 mins and uses all my CPU power, and then it often freezes permanently.
I also rolled back system to settings from 10 days ago (before it started jamming) but this has made no difference
I also run XP at home but PI2002 still works normally there (same PC power and same 3GB RAM.)
Can anyone suggest how to get PI 2002 working again as I'm not sure what to do and of course there's no MS Support for this little gem of a program
