How to repair my 2nd XP

by cochin / December 15, 2005 1:31 AM PST

Hi, I have two XPs installed one in my 'C' drive and one in'J' 'drive(200 GB Sata). Following a failed attempt trying to multiboot with Ubuntu linux I lost my MBR. With FIXMBR and Repair I restored the XP in C drive. On booting both the XPs are Shown , but on trying to boot to the XP in'J' drive I get the Blue screen.
On booting with the Xp Cd, only the C:/ windows XP is shown.Any method to repair J drive XP? Too Complicated? Please excuse me for my experiments.

That's expected behaviour. Here's why.

Clue #1 -> "one in'J' 'drive(200 GB Sata"
Clue #2 -> "On booting with the Xp Cd, only the C:/ windows XP is shown."

No Microsoft made XP CD has native SATA or motherboard driver support so what happened is to be expected.

No fix is planned to correct the XP CD, but you can try feeding XP the drivers for the SATA during the boot.
