How to remove XP security 2012 virus

Dec 21, 2011 1:26AM PST

I have an XP media center SP 3 laptop with the xp security 2012 virus on it. Anyone know how to remove it without buying removal software? Or would it be easier to uninstall to OS and upgrade to windows 7?

Instructions For Removing That Malware

Follow the instructions in the Bleepingcomputer article below... Follow them to the letter.. It involves downloading a FixNCR.reg, Rkill, Malwarebytes, etc.. If you can't download the files on your infected computer, then us a separate, clean machine, download the files, then copy them to a CD or Flash drive and transfer them to the problem machine.

Hope this helps.

Things to try

Load Malwarebytes (from a clean system) to a flash drive, boot the sick system to safemode then load MWB via the FD to sick system and run. No guarantee BUT I have done this to more than one system with positive results, the only way it worked was in safe mode. Give it a shot and good luck!!
