How to remove TechTracker menu bar icon

Mar 11, 2011 5:32AM PST

I want to remove the TT icon but some part of TT places the immovable and non-deletable icon on the Mac menu bar. The standard mechanism of COMMAND-click to reposition or remove an icon doesn't work and there is no option to remove it in preferences or during install. Using Activity Monitor I deleted the process TTengine and the icon disappears for a split instant but then TTengine is automatically restarted and the icon comes back. Does anyone know how to remove the icon?

I just installed TT 2.0.3 and checked Preferences. There is now a check box to add/remove the TechTracker icon to/from the Menu bar. Thanks to CNET support for the addition.

Turns out that is not exactly correct. It is true from an Admin login ID, but if you run TT on an non-Admin ID (like I did), TT puts its icon on the menu bar and you cannot remove it unless you delete the TT app.

I don't want to get rid of the app, just the menu bar icon. As mentioned above TT makes it impossible to get rid of the icon on a non-Admin ID.
