General discussion

how to remove name from SELECT USER

Aug 15, 2006 2:52PM PDT

Everytime I go to another page on C NET, the SELECT USER window pops up.

It says... Select a username to be entered on this form, then it has my email address and another email address showing NET.NET.(which is not valid)

How do I remove the name with NET.NET and stop this window from popping up.

Thanks

Ben

No Joy...
Aug 16, 2006 2:25AM PDT

Thanks Kees,

I am using Mozilla 1.7.13.

I went to edit/preferences/privacy & security/cookies/cookie manager and REMOVED all cookies.

Did this twice and both times, the popup window keeps popping up when I go from link to link on C Net.

Don't know how the NET.NET extension on my email got there, but it is in this popup along with my correct email address.

Thanks again,

Ben

Delete Cnet from your password manager...
Aug 16, 2006 6:11AM PDT

I did a little research on this since I remembered reading about it before and noticed that you reported this in April, but it was first reported in November last year as a result of the new 'universal login.' It seems to be a result of having your Mozilla-based browser remember your password for Cnet, which conflicts with Cnet's own 'remember me' option. The only solution is to delete all references to Cnet from your Mozilla 'remembered passwords.'

Hope this helps,
John
