How to Remove background/foreground noise from audio / video

Feb 27, 2010 5:55AM PST

Hi

Wondering if anyone out there can assist.

I did an amateur recording of my little nephew performing in his first stage concert at kindergarten recently.

However there is a lot of foreground noise in the audio - eg. audience talking, kids screaming and general coughing and clapping sounds. All these sounds are captured loud (sometime too loud) and clear whereas the actual sound from the stage sounds "echo-y" and very far away.

Is there any software out there (freeware / shareware) that can help user to :-

a) Separate foreground and background audio into different streams?
b) Allow user to delete the unwanted audio stream
c) Bring the softer audio stream to the foreground before saving?

Thank you.

Thank you for advise. I'll go check out the programmes you recommended.

One quick question, will this converter work for just audio recordings as well? Of do you know of any other programmes out there that will work for audio only recordings?

Thanks again.
