How to reinstall XP without factory disc

by goldfoot / July 22, 2004 2:48 AM PDT

I have a computer running XP that is well and truly knackered from a software point of view and wanted to reinstall XP off the factory settings recovery disc - which I can't find..is it possible to reinstall XP using an actual XP disc (rather than the recovery disc)?

Yes. But CD-Keys may not work, drivers just "kill" new to installing the Windows OS as they learn (head through the wall feeling!) that Microsoft doesn't fetch, install drivers for motherboard, video, audio and more.

Sure, but get a bottle of what pain reliever you can tolerate as you do this.

Let me share the usual story is this is some HP/Compaq and they didn't take the offer to make restore CDs?

Thanks for the info..so basically it sounds a bit of a drag to do, and even then, it may not work..hmmm..would it be feasible to request the restore disc from the manufacturer?

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
