Resolved Question

How to reduce hiss noise

Feb 26, 2015 5:24AM PST

Hi folks, I have this great ringtone -

http://www.zedge.net/ringtone/746252/

I throw at it all noise reduction software I know but I cannot get rid of the hissing noise that comes with each high pitch stroke of the organ, a noise that sounds like an overloaded or bad speaker.

Appreciate any help!

Thanks,
Udi

if you have the sound too loud and the audio quality is not the best you will get similar sounds. if you have an equalizer, you may be able to adjust it out.

Maybe it's time to re-master it? Figure a hour with a good musician.

distorted ringtone

I checked out the ringtone, and it sounds like there is distortion on the recording, and unfortunately no matter what you do the distortion will always be there.

Thanks! hmm so no way to fix?

Yeah I agree it does seem that the distortion is in the original recording..

Was hoping some kind of noise reduction software that would get rid of the hissing.. I am sure that some good high pass filter could eliminate most of it .. but all the audio editing software I tried are just killing the sound... I wonder maybe you can recommend a good one. I tried Audicity, NCH etx

Both on phone and PC

Yeah its both on phone and PC. Its not really horrible noise, it sounds like what you hear sometimes when you play high volume via small speaker... this kind of buzzing in the high treble.. mainly whenever the organ key is hit.. sort of the begging phase of the accord. But yeah it does sound like bad recording is the reason.

Ahh I wish there was a simple fix... not sure why noise cancelling s/w cant get rid of this buzzing I am sure its super common issue.
