Are you sure it's a Windows password, not a BIOS password? That's quite something else and requires a very different handling. For the moment, I assume it's a Windows password indeed.
Windows, of course, doesn't have passwords. Only accounts in Windows have passwords. So if you forgot the password of one account, use one of the other accounts.
In Windows XP (you don't tell if you have XP or Vista or 7) it's very easy. Boot into Safe Mode and login as the user "administrator" that - unless you changed it deliberately - has no password.
1. Do a non-destructive install or recovery of Windows. This leaves your data intact.
1. Take the disk out and use another computer to backup your valuable data. Then put the disk in again and reinstall Windows.
3. Take the disk out and install Windows on another disk.
4. http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/ to reset the password
Sorry to read that the software you used didn't work. But as you forgot to tell why it didn't work and what happened, I can't comment on that.
When I start my pc,ask's me the password but I was totally forget about it and no idea about ti how to recover it. This password prevents against unauthorized access to your crucial information stored on the computer and is required at each attempt of booting the computer so I implement it. Now the problem arises I tried almost very thing what i remember to setup the password. Now i am worried about my important data which was stored in my drive. If I reinstalled my windows again I will going to lose all my important documents which i was stored in my windows drive. Then one of my friend gave me with windows password recovery software of "Stellar Phoenix" . I inserted the software disk and boot my system through that disk but it won't work out on my system . I said to him why this software is not working he said, but he recovers the admin password. I don't know what to do please help me out to recover my windows password.?
