How to recover huge media files from formatted SD Card?

by gssrini / October 6, 2013 5:07 AM PDT

Hi CNetizens,
I had a very important video on my phone SD Card. When I connected it to my laptop using a Card Reader it asked me to format (I believe it had got corrupted). After formatting I realized I didn't have backup of that video.
I tried recovered it using many Recovery Softwares (Recuva, Easy Professional Recovery, Etc.). Now I'm not able to play the recovered video. The actual video was of 30minutes duration, but now only 1minute of the video plays. I used MP4 Media Fixer softwares, all in vain.
I desperately need that video now as its required for 1 of my presentations at office.
Please help me and let me know how to recover huge media files which gets deleted/formatted accidentally.
Thanks in Advance.

Hi Bob,
I went through the "Lost and Found" post. It indeed is a very informative and helpful thread. But I've used most of the recovery tools mentioned in there. Recuva, Easy Professional recovery, Ontrack recovery tool, etc. My last hope now is "Pandora Recovery" which I've downloaded now from Cnet and will try it out.
All these recovery tools shows the condition, of the video file to be retrieved, as Excellent and the recovery is absolutely smooth. But after recovery when I play it, it plays only for a minute or so while the total duration of the video is 30 minutes. It's a mp4 format of video which was almost 100MB in size. Is there any other way/tool you can suggest while I try out Pandora Recovery Tool?

My bet is the file is damaged.

When this happens you try VLC PLAYER to see if it can play it back. But I doubt any recovery will do much better as the titles there are as good as I have found over the years.

Good luck but try VLC PLAYER on the recovered file.

I think you didn't choose a nice recovery tool that's why your videos didn't recover properly. Previously I have used Remo Recover utility and it recovered my deleted files within few mouse clicks.
