How to record the best picture??

Dec 27, 2004 4:54AM PST

We have Directv and our VCR/DVD combo only records off Channel 3(or 4) and the Satellite feed comes in on Video 1(on our new LCD Sony TV).......so we can't record off Video 1, right? There is a picture on the TV channel 3, but the quality is no where near as good as on Video 1........how do I record the best picture???

Well yes it does have video output(which is connected), however, they connect to Video 1 on the TV...........so when I try to record to a DVD from the TV it only records from Channel 3.....and Video 1 is the connection that has the best picture, channel 3 also has a picture, but its not the BEST picture.

An alternative would be to get another box or TIVO...

In my area, an additional box would cost $5 more/month. The advantage here is that you can record on one channel while you are watching another.
