How to purge my laptop

Sep 6, 2010 4:13AM PDT

I purchased a hp laptop about 30 days ago from Costco. They have a 90 day return policy. Due to financial issues, I would like to return it. However, how do I delete all personal info (password, online banking info, etc. so that it is not available for anyone else.
I am not a real techie so will I be able to do this myself?
Thank you for your time.

You need to restore the factory image

It is probable that you didn't get any recovery media with the laptop. It might still be possible for you to create that recovery media and restore it to the factory settings. There should be a utility somewhere in the software to create the media or a means to enter the recovery function when starting the PC. HP support should be able to guide you if you cannot find this yourself.

I will try this and see if I can find what you are referring to.
